Even though I like Skagit heads on the lighter side, I found the Orvis recommendations to be about 30 grains too light for my taste
Thankfully the last few years have been kind and the fish have hung around inshore that bit longer
Use a dedicated line loader
This is a workhorse combo for lightweight fishing
Maxcatch Premier (Best Budget Trout Rod) Pieces: 4 Available Sizes: 843wt, 864wt, 95wt, 96wt, 97wt, 98wt Action: Medium to Medium-Fast Action Pros: Super cheap but not garbage build, casts well, nice design Cons: No real warranty, not great service I know, people love hating on Chinese companies making Chinese rods, but few of those people realize that many of the top producers of fly fishing gear, including Orvis and Sage, outsource a lot of their rod building or at least componentry to the far east
